Start Date: 8/20/2009 9:07:07 PMIt's been a very long Journey and boring one, Wish I knew about this site 6 months ago.
My accident happend in July. Without going into too much detail on here I have a compound Fracture from a fall.
To be honest I am very lucky to be writing this here today.
From much of what I remember [not much!]
- You're going to have to excuse me I am not too keyed up on the actually bone names.
When I got to hospital after the ambulance came, My actually ankle was coming out of the left side.
Gas and air is my best friend, Only actually way to fix this was to grab, and PULL!
I woke up few times, I woke up with a thigh high cast on. Then woke up with a knee high cast on.
- I forgot to mention that before the cast I had to have a 20 min x ray, Full body.
I was so sick of people poking and prodding me!
After the cast was put on they decided that my bones would not set in place. I had to have surgery that day.
First Surgery I had an ex fix. Which was horrible. I was unable to sleep with it and the sight of it was enough to turn your stomach!
I had this ex fix on for 7 week-ish. I was none weightbaring and crutches I found very difficult.
I was in hospital for about 2 weeks before I was sent home.
Which was strange I went to the hospital for my check up and the ex fix was taken off, They wanted to see if movement would help, The ex fix didnt really do anything
3 days after my ex fix was removed and no cast or support I had to go into hospital because the pain was so bad.
My regualr Dr, [who is amazing!] wasn't in so I was giving a temp cast to support and see our next plan.
I was sent for my second Surgery where a Plate and 2 screws was added.
Everything was fine untill they told me I could try gently putting weight on with the use of crutches...
The ankle collasped.

I was sent for another op to add another plate other side, I had a reaction and my lung collasped, I was in ECU for 6 hours so the op couldnt go ahead.
I have recently had my next plate added. The extra bone growth has now been shaved.
They are happy with how its coming along.
I can walk about 20 Feet, My limp is there but I am confident that with physio I will be hopefully back to some normality.
Not bad for thinking I wouldn't be able to walk again!
As much as this accident has been the worst experience of my life, In a way I am grateful. If I can get through this I can get through anything.
This is the new picture of my ankle, There is a little gap so I need to get my bone to fill that in.
I am having so much calcium right now its un real.
